Funerals at Sea
Funerals at Sea
For centuries, mankind has looked to the ocean as a symbol of change, mystery, hope, the uncontrollable, and, of course, life. Death is all of these, too. Death brings changes in our lives. It is mysterious. It is unpredictable and beyond our control. Yet death is also the affirmation of life. What a more fitting way to celebrate the life and legacy of a loved one than to say goodbye in a beautiful and richly symbolic setting. For over two decades, Pacific Coast Ashes at Sea has helped families give their dearly departed a beautiful and peaceful resting place with our funerals at sea services.
Beyond the symbolic and the spiritual associations, there are many reasons why you should consider funerals at sea. If the deceased enjoyed waters, loved the sea, or had nautical background or experience, a burial at sea is the best way to pay homage to him or her. It is relatively less expensive than a conventional funeral, too.

A Meaningful and Memorable Memorial
Do you want to hold the funeral with the sunset as a backdrop? Do you want to fly Chinese lanterns or float candles during the scattering of ashes? Do you want to host a dinner for your guests? Our professionals stand ready to assist you in planning this memorial and make it meaningful and memorable. Our captains and crews are licensed and experienced to make sure that you have a safe and enjoyable voyage. These will also ensure you that you’ll get the best funerals at sea services from us.
For unattended ash scattering, Pacific Coast Ashes at Sea will take pictures and videos of the ceremony. We will send the records to the family, along with information regarding the date, time, and exact coordinate of the ceremony.
If you have a family member who loved flying or was a pilot, you can give them a final flight with our ash scattering from air service. If there will be attendees, they can watch from a boat or from the shore.
We can also perform burial at sea with no remains -- a ceremony aimed to provide a sense of closure for families of people whose bodies were lost at sea (or some other disaster) and had not been retrieved.
